Bridgnorth Boxing Academy

Josh and Luke Feehan of the Wynn Foundation have been along to the Bridgnorth Boxing Academy to present a grant of £996. The grant will pay for equipment and some qualifications including coaching, DBS checks and safe-guarding courses.

The Academy is a newly formed boxing academy in Bridgnorth. Bridgnorth hasn’t had a boxing facility for over 30 years and the nearest one is 10 miles away. The academy runs courses for a number of age groups including 5-10 Year olds, 10-16-year olds and adults. The sessions are led by 2 volunteer coaches currently with over 25 years boxing experience. The boxing academy is giving affordable fitness opportunities for the community as well as skilled boxing coaching. They have a vision that in the future Bridgnorth will have boxers who could represent the town at an amateur level.

They are currently borrowing equipment from another boxing gym and the grant will allow them to but their own equipment. The equipment includes gloves, pads, punchbags and skipping ropes.
