08 Aug Wenlock Olympian Society
Wenlock Olympian Society is is an organisation run by volunteers who organise the annual Wenlock Olympian Games. They have competitors ranging from 8 – 88 years old.
The games aim to be as inclusive as possible and hold some events specifically for individuals with disabilities.
The Society explained that since 1850, a wide range of athletics have been held at Wenlock Olympian Games on or close by its present home of the William Brookes’s school campus.
However, the facilities are in urgent need of renovation to bring them back to UK Athletics’ TrackMark standard. Hence, the Society are undertaking a fund-raising initiative.
They submitted a grant application to the Wynn Foundation which was approved by trustees at a recent meeting.
Trustee Helen Wynn can be seen in the photo presenting the cheque to representatives of the Wenlock Olympian Society.
