The Shrewsbury Railway Heritage Trust recently submitted a grant application to the Wynn Foundation requesting support with the improvements they are making at Abbey Station Visitor Centre.
Situated in Abbey Foregate the popular railway heritage centre recently received a prestigious Red Wheel heritage plaque by the National Transport Trust. It provides a community facility, under the title of the Abbey Station Visitor Centre. and is managed by a team of voluntary trustees. The centre has facilities for the benefit of the local community by providing a meeting place for a variety of community groups, charities and social organisations.
Philip Davies, (pictured) Chairman of the Shrewsbury Railway Heritage Trust said: “The Wynn Foundation exists to support community needs and create opportunities for groups and individuals across Shropshire to prosper – and the trustees of the Abbey Station Visitor Centre are delighted to have been supported by them. We are thankful to the Wynn Foundation for selecting us for funding and their recognition of our aims and ambitions is very rewarding”.
