SHINE – Spina Bifida, Hydrocephalus, Information, Networking, Equality is the leading support service for people affected by all forms of spina bifida and hydrocephalus across England, Northern Ireland, and Wales and was founded in 1966. They provide free, lifelong membership to 13,500 individuals with the conditions, helping with issues concerning physical health, emotional wellbeing, finances/benefits, housing, employment, education and Early Years intervention and offer condition-specific information, one-to-one support and extensive peer support networks.
The organisation recently approached the Wynn Foundation for support to enable them to deliver specialist advice and information to improve the health and wellbeing of 147 members living in Shropshire with the disabilities spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus.
The Wynn Foundation trustees agreed to support the wonderful work that SHINE does in Shropshire.
Steven Lord, Trust Fundraiser said:
“Thank you from us all at Shine for your donation to support our members in Shropshire. The Wynn Foundation are a new supporter for Shine and we really appreciate your confidence in us to
deliver help and support to our 147 members of all ages in Shropshire.
Your contribution will help us to offer anyone affected by spina bifida or hydrocephalus free, lifelong membership
to our organisation. Our members continue to tell us how much this means to them. They highlight the value of our
expert knowledge, which gives them the confidence, knowledge and resilience they need to manage long-term
health issues. Your support means that we can staff our services, produce resources and hold events this year; but ultimately it means that our members have a sense of stability and community that keeps them going.
We could not achieve this without you. Thank you for playing such an important part in our work.”
