The Wynn Foundation Presents a Grant to the Hope House

Helen Smith visited Hope House in Oswestry to present a cheque for £5000 to the charity to support their purchase of an automated door system for the hospice users and their families

Serving the community for over 22 years, Hope House is a Children’s Hospice located in Oswestry.   Hope House provides care and support for families looking after life threatened children. The setting offers respite care, sibling support and bereavement counselling.

When the hospice first opened it cared for children up to the age of 18 but there was also a lack of suitable hospice facilities for young adults in the area. In 2009 they decided to extend the age range to 25 years.

Hope House applied to the Wynn Foundation for a grant of £5000 to enable automatic door readers to be installed. There is currently a push door release system which many users cannot operate. The new system will enable some of the hospice’s wheelchair users (specifically young adults) to move freely and independently around the Hospice.

Helen commented on her visit:

“It was a privilege to visit Hope House and meet some of the wonderful team there. Along with the fantastic facilities, the hospice is warm and friendly with a real homely feel to it. I am thrilled the Wynn Foundation could make a contribution to such an important project within the hospice.”
